high-pressure technology meets world cultural heritage: water pipe renovation on the ponte vecchio

florence – four sections of an aging water pipe on the famous ponte vecchio bridge, a unesco world heritage site, were recently successfully renovated. due to the bridge's listed status, only certified partners were allowed to participate in the project. as project consultants for falch, tommy ditrani and sergio vicari provided technical advice to the actual contractor responsible for renovating the pipes.

how can astbestos-containing bitumen layers be professionally removed without contaminated wastewater being released into the environment? falch was able to actively support the experts in this area: with the new water treatment systems cont sed 100, base sed 30 and base filt 50 band, the wastewater could be filtered in cascades, sedimented and the removal properly collected. after successful cleaning and passing the water tests, the purified water could be safely discharged.
