falch heli jetting: 800 m² per hour cleaned in bamberg lock
around 22,000 m² of concrete surfaces were to be cleaned in the bamberg lock. the lock on the danube-main canal has a useful length of 190 m and is 12 m wide, and the average drop height is 10.94 m.
kommunalservice lang gmbh, a company based in heiligenstadt, was awarded the contract for this cleaning work and approached falch to look for a way of carrying out this work as quickly as possible.
since falch has increasingly focused on automated water jetting solutions in recent years, the lift worker 250 heli was the perfect tool for the job.
the lift worker 250 heli is a jetting tool that is attached to the basket of an aerial work platform. connected to a high-pressure cleaner, the surface cleaner head of the lift worker 250 heli is guided evenly over the jetting surface by the aerial work platforms forward movement.
while two two-person teams with classic high-pressure cleaners previously needed about two weeks to clean half the lock, the heli jetting process had the entire lock jetted in just two days – which is about 20 times faster than the previous solution! … and if that weren’t enough, it delivers a better surface finish too!
around 250 tonnes of sludge were removed from the inland waterway lock. afterwards, wasserstraßen- und schifffahrtsamt donau mdk (the danube waterways and shipping authority) conducted the regular structural inspection to determine potential rehabilitation requirements.
