asbestos-containing bitumen - what to do?
how are asbestos-containing bitumen layers professionally removed without contaminated wastewater entering the environment?
this was the challenge faced by the project managers during the demolition of the old a40 rhine bridge in duisburg. after an unsuccessful attempt to strip off the coating with an excavator, it became clear that more than just a standard procedure was needed.
falch was able to actively support the experts at this point: two falch ultra-high-pressure pumps (trail jet 125 kw and trail jet 250 kw), as well as automated robots (surface rob 250 and line worker 250), ensured a bitumen removal rate of 1 m²/min, thus ensuring that everything was removed in an environmentally safe manner and that the workers did not have to stay in the immediate vicinity of the branch removal site. with the new water treatment systems cont sed 100, base sed 30, and base filt 50 band, the wastewater could be filtered in cascades, sedimented, and the wastewater professionally collected.
after successful cleaning and passing water tests, the purified water could be safely drained away.
thanks to the use of powerful falch machines, the dismantling took only nine months.
