combat readiness under extreme pressure
falch brings military frigate back into shape
under the caribbean sun, french labor teams were recently hard at work using our falch machines.
within just seven days, the hull of a light frigate of the floréal class was stripped of paint over an area of around 1000 m² - a task that would have taken almost four weeks with conventional sandblasting methods and hand lances.
stripping the paint from the areas below the waterline was particularly challenging. these parts of the hull were not only difficult to access, but also very angled and built up, which made the use of robotic solutions difficult. thanks to the maneuverability and precision of the climb rob 250, large parts could still be stripped of paint automatically. this enabled an impressive blasting performance of up to 40 m² per hour on some of the more accessible areas of the hull. by using two base jet 250s and other falch equipment, not only was the working time significantly reduced, but also the ship's downtime, as several jobs could be carried out simultaneously.
the use of high-pressure water jet technology for paint stripping protects the ship's surfaces from abrasive damage and is also environmentally friendly, as it does not produce any secondary granulate waste. paint waste could be easily separated and disposed of thanks to the interaction of falch's own developed and patented "vacupress" extraction system and the waste water treatment of the base filt series.
falch has thus once again proven that we not only work precisely and quickly, but also fully meet our customers' expectations of quality and efficiency.
