the contract, for subsoil preparation, that the heinrich schmid branch in freiburg was awarded, as part of the renovation work on the federal constitutional court in karlsruhe, was not as easy as it sounded.

because the building, which was constructed in the 1950s, is a listed building, the dilapidated t-beam ceiling could not be demolished and had to be extensively repaired. the first step was to remove the old coating and roughen the substrate in order to create a bond for the new spray plaster.

to avoid having to jet the ceiling area of around 2,700 m² overhead by hand, water jet expert helmut rother decided to use the surface rob 250 jetting robot in ceiling mode. thanks to the small nozzle cross, even the narrow spaces in the coffered ceiling could be easily reached. the damaged areas were then exposed with the hand lance.

“thanks to the surface rob 250, we made really good progress with the ceiling renovation, achieving about 10 m² per hour!" says helmut rother from heinrich schmid: "we also got a very even surface by using the jetting robot."
