the main dam, with a gigantic height of 145 meters, a length of 475 meters and a concrete volume of 2.7 million cubic meters, is the centerpiece of this project, shaped like a ship’s bow floating above the valley. the concrete of the dam is poured in layers until the total height of 147 meters is reached.

­but how can the many concrete layers, poured at different times, be made watertight?

this task is performed by 4 large falch systems that roughen the surface of the concrete so perfectly that a 100% bond is created between the individual layers.

this ensures the dam is sealed and can withstand the enormous water pressure.
