robot overcomes challenging project access

during the renovation of a sprinkler basin measuring approximately 17 m × 17 m × 2.70 m for the internal fire water supply in hechingen, the workers faced several major challenges: not only did they have to comply with the specified level of safety, noise level and oxygen demand. 

there was also a challenging access point, around 20 m long. it led from a car park via a basement staircase, then through a small 80 cm × 80 cm manhole and via a ladder into the basin. a precise, careful approach and an efficient, easily planned implementation were required.
 

falch solved these challenges with transformation and automation: a trail jet 125 and a trail jet 30 outside the building ensured a system pressure of 2500 bar and a delivery rate of 24 litres/minute. combined with a hand lance and the collapsible surface rob 250, the concrete on the wall, supports and floor in the basin was roughened. the robot achieved a performance of about 1 m²/minute, while the hand lance managed around 0.3 m²/minute. in total, around 450 square metres of coating area were treated in the shortest possible time. the dirty water was treated on site with the base filt 50 big bag.
