the renovation of a large tank at the mineral oil refinery in karlsruhe involved a challenging task: the removal of a 4-6 mm thick coating of sika permacor with graphite inside the tanks. thanks to falch, this project could not only be completed faster, but also more cost-effectively than the conventional sandblasting process. 

the equipment used included two trail jet 250 and trail jet 30 pump systems as well as the surface rob 250 and line worker 250 robots. a particular challenge was to bring all the equipment and robots into the tank through a small manhole - a logistical challenge. the automation led to an enormous increase in efficiency: with an output of 35 m² per hour, the renovation was completed in just 3.5 weeks - a process that usually takes around three months using the sandblasting method, and without the costly disposal of the remaining sand.
