to increase the water volume capacity from 100 to 117 m³ per second, the aue hydrological power plant near baden (in the canton of aargau) was converted over a period of three years.

in order to build a new, high-performance turbine, the first task was to demolish a 6 x 6 m foundation wall at a water depth of 2.5 metres.
the stansstad branch of the company kibag bauleistungen ag was commissioned to carry out the demolition work. this company has had previous experience with high-pressure underwater jet work.

the conditions for jet work under the water surface are completely different from those on land: buoyancy means that it is practically impossible to compensate for the recoil of the equipment under water.

the falch underwater unit is used to balance out these forces during high-pressure water jet work. the two professional divers manage to remove about 0.2 m³ of material per day, working in shifts. given the difficult conditions under water, this is quite a chunk of work! diver mario
