the ötigheim open air stage

24.07.2008

with 4,000 covered seats, the stage of the people's theatre ötigheim e.v. is the largest in germany. last year the company arthur hörig was commissioned  to renovate the open air stage. around 700 m² of concrete surface had to be stripped of its coating, and, in addition, the damaged iron reinforcements had to be revealed and then reprofiled.

arthur hörig used the ultra high pressure blasting unit falch T25 with 2,500 bar working pressure and 20 l/min. for the renovation work: "we could only carry out the stripping work in principle by using ultra high pressure water blasting. if we had used sandblasting we would have had to cover the entire auditorium because otherwise the blast medium would have covered all the rows of seats. in addition, we would have had to dispose of the blast medium at our cost."

just 3 minutes per m²!

the entire area was stripped in just about 40 hours - the blaster just needed around 3 minutes for each m²!  "the quality of the concrete on the two side walls is very varied, because, during construction, the concrete had been freshly mixed on site on a daily basis. we were able to cope with the varied substrate very well using the pointspeed regulation 30: we regulated the speed directly at the nozzle, depending on the consistency of the substrate, -and were able to carry on blasting without interruption!"

the company arthur hörig has been working with falch water blasting systems for over 10 years. since May 2007 the painting contractor has been operating with its own ultra high pressure T25 - in the years before this they rented the equipment to suit the specific order. "we are getting ever more orders in the field of concrete repair, so we decided to buy our own falch T25. the unit is very reliable - and because of the innovations in the field of accessories there are ever more possibilities for renovation for us."
