housands of litres of fresh water flow each day into lisbon homes. to keep this going, the water reservoirs for the city need to be serviced at regular intervals. the continuous movement of the water produces so-called abrasion, which has the result that the thickness of the epoxy coating reduces bit by bit. first, the entire old coating must be removed.only in this way can you check whether damage already exists to the substrate.
<br />wild water: 50,000 sq. meters epoxy coating completely removed in just 32 days. just 6 weeks was available for the removal of the coating on 50,000 sq. metres in order to ensure prompt subsequent recoating. sandblasting as an alternative would not have been more economical or more efficient. in addition, the company REDECOR would have had approx. 1,600 tons of contaminated blast medium to dispose of after completion of the work if they were to use granular abrasive. the complex access to the project also made the procedure more difficult. operatives, equipment and working materials had to reach the water containers through a shaft opening of just 80 cm diameter. thus, the falch equipment won the contest, with 3 shift operation capability. the rotor jet pointspeed regulation, with direct speed regulation at the nozzle saves a lot of time! in addition, it provides the opportunity of coping with the various consistencies of the substrate. this proved to be a big advantage - particularly as a result of the different degrees of wear of the epoxy paint. the additional use of the falch scater 25, with direct extraction, made it possible to remove the coating from large areas and to immediately extract the dirt particles produced - there was, therefore, no need to have additional cleaning afterwards.
the company REDECOR was impressed straight away: "the excellent advice provided by arnaldo santos (falch sales center manager portugal), meant that the epoxy coating was removed really quickly; with the use of the appropriate tooling of course!" "not only have I saved time, but I have saved a lot of money and will happily make use of the project express again - when I get the next order!"
