falch water jetting lima bridge viana do castelo

complex bridge renovation: 30,000 sq.metres in 190 days

01.04.2009

the lima bridge viana do castelo (portugal) is a significant interface for transport and commercial traffic. at certain points the concrete had come away and was exhibiting cracking. in order to find out how severe the damage actually was, the bridge had to be completely stripped of its old paint coating.

working economically + cleanly!

after a few comparison tests, the decision was made. sandblasting was not the right alternative solution. the costs were too high, the disposal was too extensive and the result was not good enough.

falch offered a combination consisting of the T25 with 2,500 bar and 20 l/min., the pointspeed 30.2 and the handy twister 30 with direct extraction. the perfectly matched components allowed this project to be carried out economically and in an environmentally-friendly manner.

faster than expected: 6 sq. metres in just one hour!

the direct sped regulation at the nozzle permitted coping with the various different substrate properties. an important and very user-friendly detail to prevent damaging the concrete even more. the twister 30 was the appropriate complementary unit for smaller areas. the incorporated extraction system filtered the dirt particles out immediately so that nothing could enter the open water.

the paint coating on this complex structure was removed from more than 30,000 sq. metres in just 190 days and thus provided the optimum preparation for the new coating.
